Role Overview

To provide expert advice and guidance to the OCS UK&I Business including Operational Directors, Senior Managers & Operational Management teams on effective and robust Fire safety Management system. The role includes developing and being the ‘owner’ of the OCS UK&I Fire Management policy, procedures and accompanying processes including premises log books, ensuring these remain effective and fit for purpose through regular reviews. Undertake monitoring and over-sight activities to ensure the business operates within the relevant legislation, guidance and industry best practice to ensure that all aspects of fire safety management effective and compliant.

Key Responsibilities:

Functional

  • To undertake the subject matter expert lead for OCS UK&I on fire safety management.
  • Provide clear direction and expert advice and guidance to the OCS UK&I Business including Operational Directors,
  • Senior Managers & Operational Management teams on effective and robust Fire Safety Management
  • To work collaboratively and constructively with other members of the OCS UK&I Technical Team and wider OCS
  • UK&I QHSE Team to ensure a consistent and seamless delivery of support across OCS.
  • Own and manage the OCS UK&I Fire Safety Management policy, procedures and accompanying processes
  • including premises log books, ensuring these remain effective and fit for purpose through regular reviews
  • Deliver a continued program of awareness training to relevant Management Teams on the implementation and
  • adherence to the OCS UK&I Fire Safety Management policy.
  • Set the minimum standards within the OCS UK&I Fire Safety Management policy for competency levels for those
  • tasked with fire safety management or monitoring tasks.
  • Working with the OCS QHSE Training team to ensure relevant training courses are suitable and made available.
  • On-going coaching and mentoring of OCS Operational Management Teams
  • Advising Clients on their responsibilities
  • Undertake a program of monitoring and oversight UK&I wide through site visits ensuring the OCS UK&I Fire Safety
  • Management policy and procedures are understood and embedded at site level & correct process and frequencies
  • are maintained of fire safety management activities and document retention.
  • Complete a program of fire safety management audits, identifying both good practice and gap analysis,
  • implementing subsequent remediation plans to drive continual improvements.
  • Advising all stakeholders within the company on all matters relating to UK and Ireland fire safety legislation, the
  • Building Safety Act, fire strategies, fire risk assessments and fire safety management arrangements.
  • Provide advice to operational teams on delivery of services relating to fire separation/ compartmentation,
  • engineered solutions and reduction of fire risk through enhanced PPM delivery.
  • Liaising with and supporting operational compliance teams to achieve the highest standards in line with legislation
  • and industry best practice.
  • Liaising with Snr QHSE manager for mobilisations in supporting and advising sales and bid teams in continuous
  • improvement in submitted bids.
  • Liaise with and collaborate with other stakeholders in maintaining all current and future accreditations.
  • Lead thorough investigations for fire incidents, identifying root and underlying causes with rectification plans.
  • Attend Client liaison meetings and representing OCS UK&I as the Fire Safety Management subject matter expert
  • for the business.
  • Advising the business on Duty Holding, Responsible Persons and Fire Appointed Persons and Competent Persons
  • competency and appointments in writing.
  • Assist the business in assessing competency and performance of fire safety management sub-contractors.
  • Assist with OCS representation at Fire Safety Groups.
  • Production and delivery of monthly reports to Senior Executives.
  • Lead on embedding the OCS UK&I fire safety Management policy, procedures and accompanying processes within
  • any new business or contract ensuring simplicity of access, full understanding and implementation through
  • effective delivery programs.
  • To build effective working relationships with key stakeholders
  • To keep up to date with new legislation and industry practices to enable robust guidance afforded to the business.

  • Assist with OCS Apprenticeship schemes where required on request by the UK&I Technical Director

About You:

  • Applicants must have the right to work in the UK

 

Necessary Experience:

  • Relevant industry recognised Diploma/ degree qualification in fire safety management.
  • Member of recognised fire safety professional body such as Institute of Fire Engineers and maintain CPD.
  • Expert knowledge of fire safety, relevant HTMs, JSP and British Standards
  • Sound knowledge of Health and Safety compliance and statutory requirements placed on the business.
  • Knowledge of CAFM systems, including all fire related management PPMs
  • Extensive practical fire safety management and delivery experience, preferably in a services, manufacturing,
  • industrial or engineering environment.
  • A working knowledge of environmental law is preferred.
  • A credible level of experience in investigating significant events and in dealing with enforcement agencies.
  • Confident when dealing with the enforcing authorities
  • Hands-on delivery
  • Able to operate and communicate competently at all levels, both internally and externally.
  • The ability to demonstrate proactive customer relationship management and effective relationship building is
  • essential.
  • Behave in an ethical and sustainable way
  • Full UK drivers license
