Shift Pattern: Varied, nights
The Print assistant will be expected to operate within the Press room ensuring Plates are ready, fitted correctly on start ups, edition changes and presses are de-plated at the end of a production run. Within this role you would also be responsible for the removal of waste plates at the end of production.
Key responsibilities:
- The Print assistant main task will be to assist with Plating of the press.
- The Print assistant will be responsible for completing all relevant paperwork.
- Making sure the quality of reels and splice patterns are checked .This also applies to the manually redressed reels.
- Observe reels as they travel through to Reel Handling equipment.
- The Print assistant will be able to operate the reel stands.
- The Print assistant will work collaboratively in achieving all KPI’s
- The Print assistant will assist with webbing up the press, under the direction of the site.
- The Print assistant will assist with re-webbing the press, inclusive of removal of paper debris following a web break, under the direction of the management team.
- All pre and post run checks of associated equipment are to be conducted in line with OCS standards. Any equipment defect is reported appropriately.
- Keeping the immediate working area safe and clear of any impediments, such as trip hazards, spills, etc.
- Keep area and machines clean and tidy and dispose of waste in the correct manner.
Key skills and experience required for this role:
- Right to work in the UK is essential
- Once trained, a full understanding of CTP requirements. Fitting of Lithographic plates using PPL technology would be expected
- Understand the quality required for plates being fitted to presses
- Flexibility – Ability to move between areas to meet the needs of the business.
- Excellent team working skills and ability to at all times integrate with the team
- Good numeracy and literacy skills.
- Must be computer literate.
- Ability to demonstrate excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work on own initiative.
- Good organisational skills.
