About The Role:

This four-year apprenticeship consists of a combination of college hours and on-site experience, leading to a final HNC Certificate on successful completion. Travel and work location will be subject to business requirements due to ongoing projects throughout Britain.

 
The work of a heating engineer is varied and can include the following: 

Installing and maintaining pipework, boilers, ASHP’s, calorifers, pumps, radiators, radiant panels and other mechanical equipment 
Using a variety of hand and power tools to measure, cut, join and fit pipework, plant and equipment of various types
Reading plans and technical drawings and working from them on large or small projects 
Installing the pipework and mechanical components in complex heating and ventilation systems
Testing installations to make sure that they are effective and completely safe, diagnosing and repairing faults in installations and mechanical equipment 
To be part of the Engineering Support team working on behalf of OCS providing a technical engineering service to the OCS client in respect of mechanical installations in new and refurbishment projects 
Assisting general maintenance of electrical systems, HVAC, mechanical and plumbing assets. 
Assist with trouble shouting issues with plant. 

Technical: 


To undertake installation duties as required from first fix bracketry through to final fix elements such as radiators and radiant panels. 
To provide a flexible approach to working practices within the projects team which could involve undertaking tasks associated with building projects 
To undertake works to a high standard and within set time frames so that the customer expectations are met.
To provide a professional service and represent the company in a way which ensures customer satisfaction.
Working in a safe manner always, complying with current Health & Safety legislation and OCS H&S policy.

Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, relevant stakeholders, staff and external bodies 
Developing effective communication and strong client / supplier relationships to aid business development and retention

Planning & Organising:


Project yourself, your team and the company in a courteous and professional manner always. 

Prepared to work in various UK locations in line with business requirements, this role will be subject to operating across multiple client contracts in Britain.

Team: 

College lecturer and students completing similar course.
Working closely with colleagues/operatives across the OCS group to gain knowledge and experience of an integrated delivery of client services. 
Work closely with the  Supervisor, heating and plumbing engineers and other apprentices

Health & Safety: 


Helping create and maintain a positive safety culture, leading by example at all times 
Ensuring you are aware of the obligations under the OCS Health & Safety Policy, and that work is carried out in accordance with the policy at all times.

Experience & Qualifications:

National 4/5 Maths, science or Physics 
Aptitude test (can be arranged for applicants) 
HVAC Engineering Entry level training advantageous but not compulsory 
Previous work experience would be advantageous but not compulsory
