About The Role:

We’re recruiting for a Assistant Cleaning Manager to join our passionate and driven Cleaning team.

You’ll oversee all cleaning and associated duties carried out by all those that you are responsible supervising. 

As an Assistant Cleaning Manager, you will support the Cleaning Manager in the day-to-day management of cleaning operations, ensuring the highest standards of cleanliness, health and safety, and customer service are consistently achieved. You will play a key role in supervising cleaning teams, driving performance, and maintaining compliance across the contract.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist in the delivery of all cleaning services in line with contractual requirements and company standards.
  • Support the planning and allocation of daily cleaning activities to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor cleaning quality and identify areas for improvement.
  • Respond promptly to service issues and implement corrective actions where required.
  • Support mobilisations, service enhancements, and site improvement initiatives.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise and support cleaning operatives across the site.
  • Assist with recruitment, onboarding, and induction of new employees.
  • Deliver toolbox talks, team briefings, and training sessions.
  • Monitor attendance, performance, and productivity levels.
  • Promote employee engagement, wellbeing, and a positive team culture.

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety policies, procedures, and legislation.
  • Support the completion and review of risk assessments and safe systems of work.
  • Ensure all cleaning equipment, machinery, and chemicals are used safely and correctly.
  • Report accidents, incidents, and near misses in line with company procedures.
  • Maintain COSHH records and promote safe working practices at all times.

Customer Service

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Support regular client meetings and site walkarounds.
  • Ensure customer complaints and service requests are resolved professionally and efficiently.
  • Promote a customer-focused culture within the cleaning team.

Financial Responsibilities

  • Assist with the management of labour budgets and staffing levels.
  • Support stock control processes and ordering of cleaning consumables.
  • Monitor the effective use of materials and equipment to minimise waste.
  • Contribute to achieving contract objectives and performance targets.

About You

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Previous supervisory experience within a cleaning, facilities management, or support services environment.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning methodologies, equipment, and industry best practices.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and COSHH requirements.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills.
  • Ability to organise workloads and prioritise tasks effectively.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office applications and basic administrative tasks.
  • Flexible and reliable approach to work.

Desirable

  • Experience within a large-scale commercial, manufacturing, healthcare, education, or transport environment.
  • Cleaning industry qualifications (e.g., BICSc).
  • IOSH Working Safely or equivalent Health & Safety qualification.
  • Experience managing rotas, audits, and KPI performance.
