About The Role:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the commercial performance of multiple design and build Fabric and MEP projects valued between £250k and £5m, delivered through long-term framework agreements within the telecommunications sector.
  • Following contract award, review project estimates and work closely with operations and procurement teams to secure the best pricing options for plant, materials and subcontractors, improving upon agreed financial targets through effective market engagement and negotiation.
  • Continuously monitor and review labour cost performance where self-delivery is being undertaken.
  • Manage subcontract cost performance to ensure cost certainty is maintained and commercial risk is minimised.
  • Agree monthly valuations with the supply chain to support OCS client valuations.
    Submit and negotiate contract variations in a timely manner, ensuring programme delivery is not impacted.
  • Prepare and agree monthly valuations with client PQS teams.
  • Conduct monthly project performance reviews and present findings to senior management.
  • Negotiate and agree subcontractor final accounts in line with project performance targets.
  • Negotiate and agree final accounts with client PQS teams, ensuring commercial objectives are achieved.
  • Provide commercial input into project proposals and bids when required.
  • Protect and enhance the OCS brand through the application of best-in-class commercial practices and principles.
  • Demonstrate effective leadership, collaboration and team spirit in line with OCS values and culture.
  • Take ownership of personal development and continuous professional improvement.

People Management

  • Capable of working in a team environment supporting colleagues and providing advice on all commercial matters when necessary
  • Understanding Client requirements and always conducting business in a professional manner
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Good listening skills and capable of interpreting directions.  

About You: 

  • Extensive experience within a building services, MEP or design and build environment.
  • Self-motivated with a passion for continuous improvement.
  • Proven track record of delivering projects to or above budget expectations.
  • A collaborative team player with the drive to improve contract performance.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo and driving positive change.
  • Experience negotiating the legal and commercial aspects of significant contracts.
  • Strong understanding of risk management principles.
  • Excellent analytical, reporting and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Able to communicate risks and mitigation strategies effectively to senior stakeholders.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proven ability to contribute to business planning and commercial strategy.
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements with third-party suppliers.
  • Ideally qualified to HNC, HND or Degree level in Quantity Surveying, Construction, Building Services or a related discipline.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Mandatory 

  • Excellent IT skills, including advanced Excel
  • Experience of administering Construction Contracts
  • Communication, presentation and interpersonal skills 

Preferred

  • Professional or Trade related vocational qualification.
  • Experience administering Framework Agreements 

Personal Attributes

  • Travel throughout the UK may be required.
  • PPE must be worn when visiting operational sites.
  • No direct line management responsibility, although the role carries full commercial ownership across multiple projects and extensive stakeholder engagement with clients and supply chain partners.
