Days of Working: Monday to Friday 3pm to 5pm over 52 weeks
As a Cleaner, you will play a key role in maintaining a clean, safe and hygienic learning environment for students, staff and visitors within an educational setting. You will deliver high standards of cleaning across classrooms, communal areas and facilities, ensuring compliance with health & safety and hygiene standards.
This role operates on a 48.2‑week working pattern, aligned primarily to term‑time hours, with additional hours worked during school holidays, particularly over the summer period, to support deep cleaning and preparation for the new academic year.
Your salary is annualised and paid in 12 equal monthly instalments, meaning you receive a consistent monthly payment throughout the year, even during periods where fewer hours are worked.
As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

- Carry out daily cleaning duties within educational facilities, including classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets, sports halls and common areas
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in line with site specifications and safeguarding expectations
- Replenish consumables such as soap, hand towels and toilet paper
- Safely use cleaning equipment, materials and chemicals in accordance with COSHH and health & safety procedures
- During school holiday periods, undertake deep cleaning tasks, such as machine cleaning floors, detailed classroom cleans and/or restoration work
- Adjust working hours during holiday periods to maintain contracted weekly hours across the year
- Report defects, damages, graffiti or maintenance issues to the appropriate supervisor
- Work flexibly to support the needs of the site during term time and holiday cleaning programmes
- Maintain a professional and appropriate presence in a live educational environment
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Right to Work in the UK and willingness to undergo a DBS check.

- Previous cleaning experience within a school, college, university or similar environment (desirable but not essential)
- An understanding of cleaning standards required in educational or public sector settings
- Awareness of health & safety and hygiene best practice
- Ability to work reliably to a routine during term time and flexibly during holiday periods
- Good attention to detail and pride in delivering consistently high standards
- A responsible and trustworthy approach when working in environments with children and young people
Desirable:
- Experience working within Facilities Management (FM) or contracted cleaning services
- Knowledge of COSHH or safe use of cleaning chemicals (training can be provided)
