Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Director to lead and expand our Energy Services offering within the Facilities Management (FM) sector. This strategic role will focus on identifying and securing new business opportunities, developing client relationships, and driving revenue growth through innovative energy solutions, including energy efficiency, decarbonisation, and sustainability services.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the energy services market, a strong network within the FM and built environment sectors, and a proven track record of delivering complex, high-value solutions to public and private sector clients.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Sales Leadership
- Develop and execute a business development strategy to grow the energy services portfolio.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across OCS’s customer base and key sectors.
- Lead the end-to-end sales process from lead generation to solution development and contract close.
Client Engagement & Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, internal OCS Stakeholders and industry partners.
- Understand client needs and tailor energy solutions that align with their sustainability and operational goals.
Solution Development & Commercial Strategy
- Collaborate with technical and operational teams to design and price bespoke energy solutions (e.g., energy services, renewable energy solutions, smart building technologies).
- Develop compelling proposals, presentations, and commercial models to ensure successful outcomes for our customers and OCS.
Market Intelligence & Innovation
- Monitor market trends, regulatory changes, and competitor activity to inform strategy.
- Champion innovation in energy services, including digital technologies and net-zero pathways.
Leadership & Collaboration
- Work cross-functionally with operations, engineering, commercial and legal teams to ensure successful project delivery.
- Mentor and support junior business development staff as needed.
Essential Hiring Criteria:
Knowledge & Expertise
- In-depth understanding of energy services, energy performance contracting, and Net Zero within the FM and built environment sectors.
- Familiarity with UK energy policy, carbon reduction targets, and funding mechanisms (including grant and 3rd party funding).
Skills
- Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to translate vision into actionable plans.
- Proficient in CRM systems, proposal writing, and financial modelling.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Energy Management or a related field.
