About The Role:

Shift pattern: 4 on 2 off, varied shift rota 

The Specialist Cleaner is responsible for performing sensitive and thorough cleaning services in railway environments, particularly in cases involving mortality. This role requires professionalism, discretion, and adherence to health and safety regulations to ensure the railway remains a safe and respectful space for colleagues.

Should there be no specialist requirements, the successful candidates will carry out train presentation cleaning duties (internal passenger trains). 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct specialized cleaning and decontamination of trains affected by mortality incidents.
  • Use appropriate cleaning agents, equipment, and techniques to sanitize and restore affected areas.
  • Adhere to strict health, safety, and biohazard protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Collaborate with railway staff and emergency services to ensure minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain detailed records of cleaning activities and report any issues or hazards to supervisors.
  • Handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism, respecting the dignity of all individuals involved.
  • Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on best practices and regulations.

To succeed you will have:

  • Experience in specialist cleaning, particularly in biohazard or trauma environments, is preferred.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations, including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health).
  • Ability to work independently and handle emotionally challenging situations with resilience.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Physical stamina to perform cleaning tasks, including lifting and operating equipment.
  • Flexibility to work varying shifts, including nights and weekends.
