About the Role
The Tactical Support Team Supervisor is responsible for leading and coordinating a specialist retail security team deployed in response to intelligence, emerging threats, incidents, and identified areas of risk across the retail estate.
The role provides a proactive and intelligence-led security capability, ensuring that team resources are deployed effectively to reduce loss, deter criminal activity, support colleagues and customers, and respond professionally to incidents.
The Supervisor will act as the operational link between the Tactical Support Team, account manager and client.
Key Responsibilities

Lead, supervise, and develop a team of Tactical Support Officers, providing coaching, performance management, welfare support, and ensuring the highest standards of professionalism, customer service, and compliance.

- Plan and coordinate intelligence-led security deployments, allocating resources based on risk assessments, incident trends, organised retail crime activity, and operational priorities.
- Conduct operational briefings and debriefings, ensuring teams clearly understand objectives, risks, responsibilities, and expected standards.
- Manage and support responses to security incidents, coordinating resources, escalating serious incidents where required, preserving evidence, and conducting post-incident reviews to drive continuous improvement.
- Support the reduction of theft, fraud, organised retail crime, violence, and anti-social behaviour through targeted security operations and close collaboration with Loss Prevention teams and store management.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including Store Managers, Area Managers, Loss Prevention teams, police, and other partner agencies, providing clear operational updates and intelligence reporting.

Monitor and identify security vulnerabilities, trends, and recurring issues, recommending and implementing improvements to security controls, procedures, and operational effectiveness.

Candidate Requirements
- Proven experience in retail security, loss prevention, security operations, or a similar environment, with previous supervisory or team leadership experience.
- Strong understanding of incident management, intelligence-led security operations, and the ability to assess information and make effective operational decisions.
- Experience dealing with organised retail crime, repeat offenders, and working alongside police and other external agencies.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, report-writing, and record-keeping skills, with the ability to work independently while maintaining effective communication with management.
- Experience using incident management, intelligence, or security reporting systems, and delivering operational briefings, training, or coaching.
- Relevant security industry qualifications and a valid SIA licence (or equivalent), with a flexible approach to working hours and operational requirements.
