Mechanical Maintenance Engineer

• Complete planned preventive maintenance, reactive maintenance, inspections, fault finding and repairs on mechanical plant, systems and equipment within authorised competence.
• Review work instructions, maintenance schedules, drawings, risk assessments and safe systems of work before starting each task, seeking clarification where required.
• Ensure the correct tools, calibrated test equipment, materials and spares are available and suitable for the work, reporting shortages or defects to the Mechanical Supervisor or Section Leader.
• Comply with site rules, permit requirements, isolations, lock-off procedures and all applicable health, safety, environmental, security and quality arrangements.
• Carry out work in the planned sequence and within agreed timescales, keeping the supervisor informed of progress, access restrictions, emerging defects and any risk to delivery.
• Diagnose mechanical faults using approved methods and undertake repairs or component replacement only where trained, competent and authorised.
• Test and recommission equipment following maintenance, confirming safe operation and escalating any unresolved issue before returning plant or systems to service.
• Support the continuity and reliability of essential site systems by responding appropriately to breakdowns, defects and operational priorities.
• Complete work orders, inspection sheets, test results, asset records and other maintenance documentation accurately and promptly.
  
• Work collaboratively with supervisors, planners, other trades, facility representatives and approved contractors to coordinate activities and minimise disruption.
• Identify and report unsafe conditions, asset deterioration, recurring faults and opportunities to improve safety, reliability, maintainability or service delivery.
