About The Role:

Working Pattern: Variable across the week, primarily Monday–Friday with occasional weekends and extended hours for events.

The Deputy Security Manager (DSM) will primarily be based at East Bank but must also visit other sites as needed for operational requirements, as instructed by the Security Manager, including overseeing officers and event management.

The Deputy Security Manager will primarily work Monday to Friday; however, weekend shifts may be required based on business needs, such as events or operational requirements, including officer visits. On certain event days, working hours may be extended. When operations are quieter, these additional hours will be compensated with reduced hours on other days, in coordination with the Security Manager.

Location: Primarily based at East Bank, with travel across 17 UAL sites

We are seeking a proactive and experienced Deputy Security Manager to support the Security Manager in overseeing security operations across 17 sites within the University of the Arts London (UAL) contract. This is a dynamic leadership role that involves managing a large team, coordinating event and non-event operations, and ensuring compliance with health and safety standards. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and professional environment across all sites.

As part of your role, your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Deputise for the Security Manager, overseeing day-to-day security operations and ensuring consistent service delivery across all sites.
  • Manage team rosters using Timegate, ensuring adequate staffing levels, including cover for sickness and holidays.
  • Liaise with the UAL Events Team and external agencies to plan and deliver secure, well-managed events.
  • Conduct regular site visits, ensure training compliance, and uphold health & safety standards through risk assessments and audits.
  • Oversee payroll checks and invoicing for event security services, ensuring accuracy and timely processing.

The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:

  • Must have Right to Work in the UK.
  • A willingness to go through BS7858 and DBS checks if successful in this role.
  • Proven experience in managing security operations and coordinating events in a multi-site environment.
  • Familiarity with rostering systems (e.g., Timegate), payroll processes, and compliance reporting.
  • Valid SIA Door Supervisor and CCTV Licences (both required).
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving abilities, with a hands-on and flexible approach.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to work occasional weekends and extended hours based on operational needs.
